Swim & Dive Team

Our swimming team competes in the Country Club Swimming Association League. The other Clubs that compete in our league are:

Germantown Cricket Club
Whitemarsh Valley Country Club
Huntingdon Valley Country Club
Aronimink Country Club
Manufacturers’ Golf and Country Club
Philadelphia Country Club
Overbrook Golf Club
Plymouth Country Club
Waynesborough Country Club
North Hills Country Club
Cedarbrook Country Club
Llanerch Country Club
The Springhaven Country Club
Torresdale-Frankford Country Club

The League is segmented into three divisions, North, Central and South. WCC competes in the South Division along with Aronimink Country Club, Overbrook Golf Club, Llanerch Country Club, Springhaven Country Club, and Torresdale-Frankford Country Club. Our season begins in June and features four dual meets against the other clubs in our division, as well as one cross-over meet with a club in each of the other divisions. Our opponents for each year are selected based upon the prior year’s dual meet results. Boys and Girls compete separately, in the following official age groupings:
8 and under
10 and under
12 and under
14 and under
18 and under
The events that we swim at our dual meets are limited to medley relays, freestyle flats and freestyle relays for the above five age groups. Scoring for these events is tabulated in the following way:

Medley Relays Freestyle Flats Freestyle Relays
1st Place - 6 Points 1st Place - 4 Points 1st Place - 6 Points
2nd Place - 3 Points 2nd Place - 2 Points 2nd Place - 3 Points
3rd Place - 1 Point 3rd Place - 1 Point

Our season culminates in The League Championships, which are held at the end of July at LaSalle University. Races (flats) in all four stokes are included in this meet, in addition to the medley and freestyle relays. This is an invitation-only meet and our coaching staff selects the swimmers who have the greatest point-scoring potential for our team. Each team is limited in the number of entrants per event and unfortunately, it is not possible for all children to swim in this meet. However, we want and encourage all swimmers and their parents to come to the League Championships to cheer on our team. Your loud voices and support help all our competitors swim faster!

The swim season runs from May 31 – July 27. Sure we would like swimmers to be there for the whole season, but we also realize it is summer and people travel. Do not feel that you cannot be a part of the swim team if you are limited in your commitment. Come see Brian and fill him in on your circumstances. We take swimmers throughout the season.
