What is paddle? Otherwise known as “platform tennis,” paddle is a popular racquet sport played on an elevated aluminum deck in cooler weather. The court is surrounded by “chicken wire” fencing which allows play off the walls, as in racquetball and squash.
The Club has one of the top paddle programs in the Philadelphia area, with a spacious “hut” perfect for warming up after a game or watching the action on any of our five courts. Our teaching professionals are highly qualified USPTA and USPTR members.
Waynesborough boasts eight women’s teams and six men’s teams in MAPTA’s (Metropolitan Area Platform Tennis Association) interclub leagues, and several of our junior players participate in tournaments on a national level. Members enjoy social events, clinics, and tournaments for all skill levels.
Waynesborough was the proud host location of the 2010 APTA (American Platform Tennis Association) National Championships. The Club continues to be a participating site for other annual tournaments such as PA State Championships and Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed MAPTA.
